The guy who graciously took our photo took 4 shots 📸… this is the only one where we were all in the frame. ❤️Bless his heart! 🙏🏼
We were all feeling a bit exhausted and needed a slower paced day. Thankfully, on our itinerary was a day trip to Grand Teton National Park and it was a perfect laid back experience!
The approach into Grand Teton had such spectacular views. In contrast to Yellowstone, the beauty is most definitely in the mountains here! When we stopped to take the picture of the mountains, we encountered these sweet people who were living in their refurbished school bus! The outside of the bus was painted in chalkboard paint and they encouraged everyone to draw on it. It rained the night before so we had a blank canvas to work with. It was so cool! Our trusty tour guide always wants to explain to where our next adventure will take us by using a map. We usually humor him, but rarely pay attention and just follow him blindly… shhh, don’t tell! ❤️ 🤫
In keeping with our laid back day, we opted to take a boat across Jenny Lake to explore a bit more. On most days, the wait time to get on the boat is 30-45 minutes, but we lucked out with only a 15 minute wait. Also, we asked about a military discount and, much to our surprise, because we are an active duty family, it was free – super appreciative of the $60 savings! 🇺🇸 As soon as we got off the boat, the girls found a rock to climb. Sweet Livi girl wore crocs, because… Livi. So Peyton was able to scale the rock with ease in her hiking boots. But Livi was certainly struggling. When Peyton got to the top, she realized there were naturally occurring stair steps on the other side. After a moment of thoughtful introspection, she made the good choice to tell her sister about the short cut instead of watching her struggle and get frustrated!
It’s fun having children old enough to take a decent picture of us on trips! Also, this may be my new favorite photo of our girls. Maybe the mountains are their happy place? We don’t even tell them to pose like they love each other anymore – it’s crazy!!😳🤔
Peyton and Doug continued their hike up to the top – Inspiration Point. Livi and I decided to stay back and do some exploring of our own! I absolutely love when we can have some one-on-one time with the girls! 🥰This seemingly adorable little statue represents a sad new reality. As of today, we are once again required to wear masks on any Federal property. We were all a bit discouraged by this news, but we are trying to focus on the good things we are fortunate enough to experience on this trip – with or without a mask!
