Day 2 Recap

Let me start out by asking, “what day is it?!”… “what state are we in?!” … “what time zone!?”

I sit here typing this update on Day 4 and it already feels like Day 2 is a distant memory, amazing… but distant, nonetheless. I wonder if this is what time travel would feel like. It is so surreal, and exhausting. Don’t get me wrong, though. I am not complaining one bit – having the opportunity to be able to take this once-in-lifetime trip is in no way a hardship, but I was certainly not expecting to feel this way.

Let’s time travel back to 3 days, 2 states and 1 time zone ago! Our day started in a farmer’s field in Pennsylvania and our travels took us on a safari in Ohio. Surreal, right? Stick with me, it only gets more entertaining.

You might ask, “a safari in Ohio?!”… well yes, that is exactly what I said! During COVID, quarantine broke us and, in turn, we broke all the rules. After being trapped inside our house, using all.the.words, all.day.long with all.the.people we were fresh out of new conversation topics by dinnertime. So we did what we said we would never do as parents – TV dinners!!! Gasp. I know, I know. But we chose to make it meaningful TV that could almost be considered homeschooling… things like Survivor (Life Skills 101), The Amazing Race (Leadership & Problem Solving), and Discovery+ (Science)! That last one is where Livi introduced us to a docu-series about The Wilds and The Columbus Zoo & Aquarium.

Oy vey!!! I had this entire post typed, with photos and commentary and then accidentally deleted it. Sorta kinda wanna cry 😭… So the rest of this will just be photos and brief captions, because I just can’t! Sigh. Hope you still enjoy!
